Lake Time

It was sunny, dry and in the 70's today so I went down to the lake!

I forgot my backpack though, which contained my sketchpad, pens, novel and iPod, so it was a very quiet and sedate day (3:30 - 6:00). I sat and ate my ham & provolone & pickle sub, with the awesome Great Pumpkin Ale from Cambridge Brewing Company. I took some photos. And I laid in the sun on the dock. The air smelled amazing, and the blue sky & red/orange/yellow autumn leaves were captivating. I streamed music from WXGR, WZBC, and WICN for about ten minutes, but then I went back to the sounds of nature (and outboard motors).

What a great afternoon.

Long Lake Day

I usually go down to the lake around 5 pm and sit around 'til sunset. Today I went down there at 2. I had a ham, provolone and pickle sub with a couple of Wachusett Octoberfest beers and some Wachusett chips. I read about 100 pages of "High Stakes" ('Wild Cards'). I swam for awhile, and I laid on the dock (more reading). I've had a head cold the last two days, but today made me feel WAY better.

A lazy morning.

Later I went to the lake (4 pm - 8 pm or so) and had some beer (Ballast Point Brewing Co. Sea Monster Imperial Stout and a couple of Long Trail IPAs), floated & paddled in the water, read on the dock, and took some cool photos. I sat and listened to my iPod until after dark when the bugs got to be a little too much to endure. A great afternoon.

3 Days Off.1

The morning was quiet.

In the afternoon/evening:

1. Bought beer (Long Trail).
2. Snagged a steak & cheese from Town House Pizza.
3. Dropped off Hayden's b'day gift ($25 to Applebee's) at his workplace.
4. Went to the lake from 6 - 8.
5. Hung out with Ma & Dad until 11 pm.

Lake & Family

I went to the lake this afternoon around 5:30, and Kevin was still there, after spending all morning building a small dock for the kids to fish from. And 20 minutes later, Sarah showed up with Laney & Georgia. Spontaneous sibling reunion!

New Music

I snagged a new/old EP from The Bilinda Butchers. It was free, but I paid 5 bucks, to support the band, and to embed it in my Bandcamp page for mobile streaming purposes.

I went to the lake for a couple of hours (up 'til sunset), reading "Fort Freak" and eating blueberries.

Also, I went a little nutty with my money, spending:

1. $42 at the Levi's website ($22 button flies!!).
2. $62 at Hannaford (fruits/veggies/meat/jelly/milk/apple fritters).
3. $25 on Amazon (the next Wild Cards book and a Justice League trade featuring the Legion of Super Heroes!).

I had night coffee and an apple fritter while I ran some laundry and watched sports tv & "It Follows" (a lame horror movie that wasn't scary at all).

Best Part of the Day

I worked 8:30 to 3, then sat around at home until 6. Then it was off to the lake with coffee (Peet's Major Dickason) and a book ("Kings and Emperors") and my iPod (Mike Posner; Charlie Pugh & Selena Gomez).

I took a bunch of photos (as usual) and floated with my coffee instead of a beer. It didn't feel quite right (haha). A good ending to a fast workday...

Days Off 2 of 2

I slept in til 9:30 or so. I had a banana, generic brand cinnamon toast crunch cereal and a giant mug of coffee as I built a Lego kit (Rey's Speeder) and watched "Side Effects" (Rooney Mara & Jude Law).

I hung out online for awhile, and then hung out with Kevin. He got his license back finally! He's so psyched. And his new truck is awesome too. I'm so happy for him.

At 5:00 I showered, packed some stuff, and headed down to the lake, after a quick stop at Mike & T's for a steak/cheese/mushroom grinder. I ate it with an Otter Creek Brewing Co Backseat Berner IPA and some Wachusett chips (best potato chips on earth), and then read some of the latest Sports Illustrated. Then it was into the water with my other beer, and a nice hour of floating/paddling/swimming in Wyman Pond. I took a few photos, and dried off, eating an apple and reading some of "1634". Home at 8:30 pm.

Lake Day

I packed a few things and went down to the lake today from around 4 to 8 pm.

I had a nice Otter Creek Brewing Co. Backseat Berner IPA and steak, cheese & mushroom sub from D'Angelo for an early supper. I read some of Cibola Burn. I cleaned out the fire pit (someone had thrown a bunch of cans, tin foil and nails into it) and built a fire. And around 5:30 Hayden & Jon came down, and we all hung out til a little after 8 (Hayden & I ran up to Depot Package with money from Jon to buy a 6-pack of Wachusett IPA, Wzachusett chips, and beef jerky). Hayden's new car (Subaru WRX) kicks ass.
